Embracing the Arrival of Spring

Spring wants to arrive in full strength and bring all the positive vibes. You can see it on blossoming trees and blooming flowers. Rain, however, still finds its way to interrupt this lovely idyllic warm beginning. It isn’t so bad because that’s what our trees and garden need the most, to prepare themselves for the hot and dry summer. Now is the time of the year when you put many layers on with a warm hat on one day and then you leave the house only in a T-shirt and ask yourself if you shouldn’t put sunscreen on.
March was mostly about planting trees, we’ve planted plums, nectarines, chestnuts, persimmons, strawberry trees aka medronhos, and some olives. They are getting lots of rain now, as well as some sunshine, so they can get stronger. There are still some trees that survived the wildfire last year which are growing back and I’d like to let them grow bigger than the others in remembrance of last summer. However, they will take way longer than the others… so we’ll see how it goes.
Our bunnies are also getting all crazy with this weather, looking for yummies everywhere and damaging anything that comes into their way, but mostly their own stuff.
And I believe that it is mainly Zlatoush who did all the damage. Lila is usually also into such stuff so you can never put the blame only on one of them.
But you can be certain that there’s lots of cleaning involved.
We’ve also started working on a pen for our dogs and goats by excavating soil and putting sand. I hope to finish soon. It will be easier for everyone. Imagine, waking up on the land with a colourful sunrise. Alright, that’s how it used to be back then. Imagine then, waking up and going to the land directly where you pick up the dogs and take them for a walk. Not being a taxi for the dogs, going to get them in the next village, bringing them to the land, then back and in the evening, taking them for a walk in the village. It’s been 8 months of trying, training, crying and… I’m looking forward to having them on the land again.
Fingers crossed for building it up!
